Už ma to ani nebaví nejako extra rozpisovať, ale všetci vieme, že tento rok proste stojí za hovno. A to vo viacerých smeroch, ale najmä v kultúrnom/hudobnom. Z koncertov sa stal nedostatkový tovar a vyzerá to tak, že minimálne do konca roka si asi necháme zájsť chuť. Na druhú stranu, viaceré kapely aspoň získali čas na prácu na novom materiáli, eventuálne dokončenie rozrobených vecí. Keď si to takto zoberieme, tak Realms of Chaos spadajú do druhej menovanej skupiny, pretože album bol už viac-menej hotový niekedy na jari. Ale kvôli vyššie načrtnutým veciam, bol pre nich celkom oriešok dostať sa pod krídla nejakého labelu. Čo je vzhľadom na kvalitu predvedenú na prvotine The Seed, celkom dosť nepochopiteľné. Nakoniec Realms of Chaos „podškrábli“ zmluvu na ktorej svietia Tri Korunky, tým chcem povedať, že sa upísali švédskemu vydavateľstvu Downfall Records. Nebudem tu vysvetľovať detaily okolo kapely, to si môžete nájsť v nedávnom promo článku (https://metalexpress.sk/2020/09/debut-realms-of-chaos-je-pripraveny-otriast-scenou/)a ja si teda moje pohodlné ušiská rozprestriem nad debutom.
Do dobre premazaného stroja nás vhodí intro Depths. Po tejto náladotvornej minútke plnej vŕzgania, sa pracovný proces death metalu dostáva hneď z fleku do prevádzkovej teploty. Úvodný vykosťovák Pain Eternal dáva vďaka ultrarýchlemu tempu a šialenému sólu, asi najviac spomenúť na predchádzajúcu etapu, nesúcu meno The Infinite Within. Apropo, čo sa týka porovnania The Infinite Within a Realms of Chaos. To porovnávanie tu samozrejme bude, ale Realms of Chaos idú na to tak trochu viac mne po chuti. Technika na vysokej úrovni síce stále zostala, ale Martinus (ako hlava kapely) sa nebojí viac
hýbať s hudbou, meniť tempá, z času na čas vyhodiť možno až heavy/thrashový riff (menovite skladba Forces of Oppresion) a proste sa tak nejako vymaznať s detailami okolo celého hudobného spektra. Pretože sa s Martinusom a Koľakom nejaký ten rôčik poznám, viem odkiaľ vetry vejú a teda u ktorých kapiel sa neboja hľadať inšpiráciu. Tá je celkom dosť cítiť u skladby To Consume. No v skratke, Trey Azagthoth by bol zrejme hrdý na to, aké „potomstvo“ sa mu v týchto zemepisných šírkach vykľulo. Druhým inšpiračným zdrojom po Morbid Angel sú nepochybne egyptológovia Nile. Samozrejme, nejaké orientom napáchnuté riffy a etno vsuvky nečakajte, ale to, čím pán Karl Sanders obdaril hudobný svet si kapela zobrala k srdcu, nechala to prejsť svojim filtrom a výsledok sa k vám dostáva prostredníctvom Submerged in the Perilous Decay a záverečnej Magma Chamber. Slovíčkom som nezavadil už iba o trojicu World of Worms, The Seed a Another Day, Another Skin. Tento triumvirát nevybočuje z vysoko nastavenej latky albumu, teda zaujímavý riff a potom rúbanica taká, ako keď sa do národných parkov nasomrujú ťažobné spoločnosti, ale mojimi favoritmi sú skôr vyššie spomínané skladby.
Ku zvukovej stránke mám iba jednu výčitku. Spev by som dal o niečo viac do popredia, pretože sa mi trochu stráca vo zvuku nástrojov. Ale album sa ku mne dostal pred vydaním a netuším, či sa ešte nejakým spôsobom bude so zvukovou stránkou hýbať, tak je to vlastne iba taká moja interná poznámka. (po pokeci s Martinusom som sa dozvedel, že to bol zámer, aby viac vynikla hudobná stránka, takže už v tom mám jasno).
Pár slov k artworku. Za dielkom na obale stojí Ondrej „Rohan“ (vlastne basgitarista kapely, ale na albume ešte nehral). Z tej milej zubatej potvorky, ktorá stíska jablko plné červov na pozadí slušnej kôpky ostatkov, sála taký celkom Gigerovský feeling. Inými slovami, istá pani Ripleyová by asi s touto entitou nebola za dobre. Ale tento obrázok sa bude pekne vynímať na tričkách, to zase áno.
Číselné hodnotenia od istého momentu už k albumom nedávam. Nemalo to nejako extra význam. Na tento album som sa tešil ako na jeden z mála z domácej scény tento rok a nesklamal ma. Naopak. Som z neho nadšený a myslím, že podobne pozitívnych recenzií ako je táto, bude zbierať celkom dosť.

I am tired of repeat it again, but we all know that this year is just worth the shit. And in several ways, but especially in culture / music. The concerts have become a rare occasion and it looks like we will probably be without this kind of cultural events at least until the end of the year. On the other hand, several bands at least gained time to work on new material, possibly completing the work in progress to be finished. The Realms of Chaos belong to the second named group, because the album was more or less finished sometime in the spring this year. But because of the things outlined above, it was quite a challenge for them to get under the label. Which is quite incomprehensible given the quality shown on the first debut album named – The Seed. In the end, the Realms of Chaos „scratched“ the contract on which the “Three Crowns”, by which I mean that they signed to the Swedish label Downfall Records. I won’t explain the details about the band here, you can find it in a recent promo article, so I’ll “spread” out my comfortable ears overthis debut.
The intro Depths throws us into a well-lubricated machine. After this moody minute full of creaking, the working process of death metal immediately gets from the stain to the operating temperature. Thanks to the ultra-fast tempo and crazy solo, the introductory Pain Eternal gives the memory of the previous band, called The Infinite Within. Speaking of comparing The Infinite Within and Realms of Chaos. Of course there will be a comparison, but the Realms of Chaos go for it a little more to my gut. The technical element still remained at a high
level, but Martinus (as the head of the band) is not afraid to move with the music more into, change tempos, from time to time you can throw up a heavy / thrash riff (for example the song Forces of Oppression) and just somehow Martinus likes to play with details around the whole musical spectrum. Because I know Martinus and Koľak personally, I know where the winds come from and therefore which bands they are not afraid to look for inspiration from. You can quite feel it with the song To Consume. In short, Trey Azagthoth would probably be proud of the „descendants“ he had sprouted at these latitudes. The second source of inspiration after Morbid Angel is undoubtedly Nile. Of course, don’t expect any oriental riffs and ethno elements, but what Mr. Karl Sanders endowed the music world with, the band took to heart, let it pass through its filter and the result reaches you through Submerged in the Perilous Decay and the final Magma Chamber. I didn’t bother to talk about the trio World of Worms, The Seed and Another Day, Another Skin. This triumvirate does not underscore from the high-level set of the album. A brutal riffs and then a rubble such as when mining companies head to the national parks. My favorites on this album are the above-mentioned songs.
I have only one complaint from sound perspective. I would put the singing a little higher, because I get a little lost in the sound of the instruments. But I heard the album before the release and I have no idea if the sound will be changed in the end, so it’s actually just my internal note. (After writing to Martinus, I learned that it was the intention to make the vocals behind the sound of the instruments, so I’m already clear on that).
I would like to add a few words about the artwork. Behind the cover is Ondrej „Rohan“ (actually the bassist of the band, but he has not played on the album yet). From that nice toothy creature, which chases an apple full of worms against the background of a decent pile of remains, the Giger feeling felt quite like that. In other words, a certain Mrs. Ripley would probably not be well with this entity. But this picture will stand out nicely on T-shirts, yes.
From a certain point on, I don’t give numerical ratings to albums. It didn’t have any extra significance. I was looking forward to this album as one of the few from our scene this year and it didn’t disappoint me. Vice versa. I’m excited about it and I think it will collect quite a few positive reviews like this.
